Boys’ V Soccer Grabs Win Over Blair
Mercersburg’s boys’ varsity soccer team earned its third consecutive victory with a 4-2 takedown of visiting Blair Academy October 12 in a Mid-Atlantic Prep League contest on Steiger Field. The Blue Storm has now gone unbeaten in its past five contests, and battled back from a 2-0 deficit to score the final four goals of the contest (including two scores apiece from Mason Davis ’20 and Luis Gomez ’21).
The visiting Bucs took a quick 2-0 lead before a header by Davis cut the deficit to 2-1, and then Gomez’s first goal of the game (off an assist from Diego Morgan ’20) tied things up headed into intermission.
Mercersburg took the lead for good directly off a corner kick by Foday Bangura ’22 that Davis finished, and then Gomez scored again off a deflected Bangura shot to help the Storm double up Blair in the final margin.
The Blue Storm (8-2-1, 2-0 MAPL) visits local foe St. James School Tuesday, October 15. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. in Hagerstown, Md.
