Chris Watson ’22 and Darren Blocker ’22 scored 21 points apiece as Mercersburg’s boys’ varsity basketball team cruised to a 76–52 win over Broadfording Christian Academy in the Blue Storm’s home opener on the first day of the Stuff the Basket Showcase December 4 in the Plantz Courts of Nolde Gymnasium.

The teams played 18-minute halves (which will be used in Mid-Atlantic Prep League play this season). Mercersburg built a 41–24 halftime lead. The visiting Lions (from Hagerstown, MD) made a run and threatened to cut the deficit to single digits, but Mercersburg held in for a 24-point win.

Collin Metcalf ’22 added 11 points for Mercersburg

"Overall, it was a nice game where many of our younger guys got to play major minutes," Blue Storm head coach Sean Crocker said. "A number of them scored what will hopefully be the first of many points they will score in their Mercersburg careers!"

Nine of the 10 Storm players who saw action scored points.

Mercersburg (1-3) hosts Scotland Campus (which defeated St. James in the event's other Friday contest) Saturday, December 4, at 4 p.m.
