Baseball Stays Unbeaten, Takes Down Kiski/VES
Mercersburg’s varsity baseball team downed Kiski, 13–3, in the first of two games May 15. In the second game—which technically counts as a scrimmage—the Blue Storm took care of a shorthanded Virginia Episcopal School squad, 12–2.
Blue Storm pitchers gave up just one earned run in 12 innings between the two games, which both ended early thanks to the run rule. Owen Beisty ’21 struck out nine Kiski hitters in five innings in the first game, while Jake Ahlgren ’21 fanned 10 VES hitters in the second game. Aiden Lorson ’22 and John Blanco ’23 had four hits apiece on the day, and Lorson had two RBI in both games.
The Storm scored 10 runs in the fifth inning of the second game to put things away and make it a happy Senior Day for the team’s five seniors: Ahlgren, Beisty, Max Awtry ’21, Jad Hassoun ’21, and Julian Trilling ’21.
Mercersburg tries to complete a perfect regular season when it heads to Kiski for a doubleheader Saturday, May 15.
