Mercersburg out-hit host Haverford School in a first-round Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association state tournament game between the teams May 20, but the Fords’ three hits included a solo home run and a bases-clearing double—which was more than enough for a 5-0 win over the Blue Storm in a contest played on the Haverford campus near Philadelphia.

The Blue Storm put two runners on in the top of the 2nd when Evan Howley ’22 walked and Tommy Tereschuk ’22 scratched out an infield hit, but a strikeout and a caught-stealing ended the threat. Haverford’s Cole Donnelly hit a solo homer and Ian White provided a two-run double to give Haverford a 3-0 lead in the 3rd inning, and the Fords added single runs in the 4th and 5th innings.

Aiden Lorson ’22, Gavin Williams ’24, and Arjun Patel ’23 joined Tereschuk with hits in the game for the Storm, which finishes 2022 with an 11-12 mark.

The contest was the final one for Mercersburg seniors Howley, Lorson, Tereschuk, Austin Hallberg ’22, CJ Hoffman ’22, and Tomiwa Salako ’22.
