Visiting Lawrenceville took both games of a Mid-Atlantic Prep League baseball doubleheader against Mercersburg April 30 at Cannon Field. The Big Red prevailed by scores of 4-2 and 8-4.

In the opener, Lawrenceville jumped out to a 4-0 lead with two runs in the 1st inning and single runs in the 4th and 5th innings. Austin Hallberg ’22 got Mercersburg on the board with an RBI double in the 5th that brought in Tommy Tereschuk ’22, and John Blanco ’23 clubbed a 6th-inning solo homer, but it wasn't enough as the Storm fell despite out-hitting Lawrenceville 7-4.

Hallberg and Tereschuk each collected a pair of hits for Mercersburg in the first game of the day.

The second game saw Lawrenceville score three times in the bottom of the 1st inning on three Blue Storm errors, and build a 7-0 lead before Mercersburg scored three times in the 5th inning. The first two of those runs came on a two-run home run by Aiden Lorson ’22 which scored Ryan MacInnis ’23, with the third run coming around on an RBI groundout by Evan Howley ’22 to score Caleb Newcomer ’23. Each team plated a run in the 6th inning to bring the score to its final tally of 8-4.

Lorson had three hits and drove in three runs in the second contest.

The Storm (8-10, 4-6 MAPL) will try to get back on track when it faces local rival St. James Tuesday, May 3, at 4:30 p.m.
