Bangura Wins Triple Jump at Mercersburg Invitational

Foday Bangura ’22 won the boys’ triple jump and several girls’ and boys’ indoor track & field athletes placed highly at the 19-team Mercersburg Invitational January 17, which the Blue Storm hosted in the Hale Field House.

Bangura’s jump of 41’ 7.5” was his best ever indoors, and ranks third on the school’s all-time list. A trio of Bangura’s teammates placed second in their events: Cory Daly ’20 (long jump, 20’ 9.75”), James Colwell ’20 (55m hurdles, 8.04), and Prithvi Kota ’22 (high jump, 5’ 4”). Additionally, Sean Fiscus ’20 placed third in the mile (4:41.65) and Aakash Koduru ’20 took fourth in the 3200m (10:13.97).

For the Blue Storm girls, Arola Oluwehinmi ’21 (55m, 7.77), Hannah King ’23 (high jump, 4’ 10”), and Grace Lewis ’20 (triple jump, 32’ 9.25”) all placed third in their respective events. Addie Geitner ’21 was fourth in the mile (5:35.53), and Chioma Oparaji ’20 (1:09.70), Lewis (1:10.31), and Elizabeth Kendrick ’21 (1:11.76) took fourth, fifth, and sixth, respectively in the 400m.

Mercersburg returns to action Saturday, January 25, when it hosts the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association State Championships at noon in the Hale Field House.
