David Grady has been a cornerstone of Mercersburg’s cross country and track & field programs for decades. He has served as head boys cross country coach since 2014, previously leading both the boys and girls teams from 1995 to 2001. In addition, he served as head coach for boys and girls outdoor track & field from 1995 to 2004.
In 1995, David launched Mercersburg’s indoor track & field program as a club sport and oversaw its transition to varsity status in 2004, coaching the boys and girls teams through 2023. Under his guidance, numerous athletes have captured individual MAPL and PAISAA titles, set school records, and helped their teams achieve top finishes — including runner-up placements at the MAPL and PAISAA championships.
A Level 2 USATF-certified coach, David has also contributed to the sport as a meet director and board member for the PAISAA cross country and indoor track & field championships. Before joining Mercersburg, he coached boys and girls cross country and track & field at Rutherford High School (NJ) for four years, where his teams won league, county, and state sectional titles.
David was a Division I athlete at Bucknell University, competing in cross country and indoor and outdoor track & field all four years.
