    As Mercersburg Academy helps lead the charge of a number of Pennsylvania schools into eight-player football, the school has named Andrew Brown its new head football coach. Brown will also join the Mercersburg faculty as a teacher of robotics; his appointment is effective at the start of the 2019–2020 academic year.

    Making its first appearance in the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association state tournament, Mercersburg’s girls’ varsity lacrosse team got a first-half hat trick from Taylor Chepren ’21 and six goals from Jill Ahlgren ’19 to move on to the quarterfinals with a 16-10 road victory over Shipley School May 17 in Bryn Mawr, Pa.

    Spring MESPY Awards Salute Athletic Excellence

    The Spring 2019 edition of the MESPY Awards was held May 16 in the Burgin Center for the Arts’ Simon Theatre. The event included team-specific awards from each of Mercersburg’s seven spring varsity squads, as well as the announcement of this season’s MESPY award winners in a number of categories.
