Olympic Medals

Olympic Athletes

Mercersburg students and alumni from 15 countries have appeared in 22 different Summer Olympics held since 1896, including every Summer Games but one in which the United States competed from 1908 to 2004.

Mercersburg athletes have competed in several areas of athletics: track & field, swimming, sailing, gymnastics, wrestling, and the former Olympic sport of tug of war.

Notably, there have been 15 Olympics with more than one Mercersburg athlete participating, including the 1924 Summer Games, when five Mercersburg alumni competed.  And in 1952, Mercersburg alumni Charlie Moore ’47 and Lee Yoder ’50 even competed in the same event.
