Academic Prizes Given to 9th, 10th, 11th Graders

Mercersburg wrapped up its 2021–2022 academic year June 2 with a presentation of academic awards for students in the 9th, 10th, and 11th grades in a ceremony held in the Irvine Memorial Chapel.

A total of 36 different students received awards. Brant Warner ’23 of Frederick, MD, earned six awards: the Upper Middle English Prize, the U.S. History Prize, the Advanced Level Spanish Prize, the Precalculus Prize, the William Paul Buchanan Prize (first prize), and the Physics Prize.

Reagan Houpt ’25 and Nathan Austin ’23 (both of Mercersburg, PA) received four awards and three awards, respectively. Eight students were recognized with two awards apiece: Maria Akaras ’24 of College Park, MD; Crystal Chiu ’25 of Hong Kong; Ava Guzic ’25 of Greencastle, PA; Collin Jin ’25 of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; Corbin Kelly ’24 of Mercersburg, PA; Dayoung Kim ’23 of Seoul, Korea; Andrew Leibowitz ’24 of Whitehouse Station, NJ; and Matt Wang ’23 of Dalian, China.

Students will depart for the summer Friday, June 3, and will return in late August for the start of the 2022–2023 academic year. Opening Convocation is scheduled for Sunday, September 4, with fall term classes beginning Monday, September 5.
