Our beautiful location draws visitors from all over the region to use our campus as a backdrop for weddings, senior portraits, and family photos. While Mercersburg Academy is an open campus and welcomes visitors, it is a private boarding school and our first responsibility is our students. Because of issues of privacy, security, and potential disruption of campus activities, we ask that you contact the Office of Summer and External Programs in advance so we may approve your visit and alert our Campus Safety Office and others that you will be on campus.

UAS and Drone Policy

Mercersburg Academy’s facilities exist primarily to serve the people and programs of the school; however, in an effort to provide resources to our neighbors and the surrounding area, the Academy makes certain facilities available to external groups and organizations on a limited basis. Facilities are available outside of the normal use of Mercersburg Academy’s own departments, typically available after 6:30 p.m. on weeknights, with varying availability on weekends. Facility requests by external groups and organizations are managed by the Office of Summer and External Programs.

All outside organizations will be asked to sign an indemnity agreement and provide a certificate of insurance in order to secure a facility for rental. In most cases, an additional risk and liability waiver is required for each participant.

Facilities Available:

Irvine Memorial Chapel - The Chapel is available for weddings for Mercersburg Academy alumni, faculty/staff families, and external parties (upon approval).

Edwards Room - This multipurpose space lined with Tiffany stained-glass windows is often used for social gatherings, presentations, and banquet-style events. 

Auditorium/Theatre Spaces - The 599-seat Simon Theatre and the black box Hale Studio Theatre (with seating for up to 110) are available on a limited basis during times when school is not typically in session.

Classrooms and Other Spaces - Classrooms and other meeting spaces equipped with state-of-the-art A/V equipment are available for small meetings and presentations on a limited basis during times when school is not typically in session.

Goldthorpe Athletic Complex and Athletic Fields - The complex includes Nolde Gymnasium, the Lloyd Aquatic Center, the Hale Field House, the Plantz Courts (for basketball and volleyball as well as wrestling competitions), and the Davenport Squash Center, as well as locker rooms. The gymnasium houses a fitness center and a wrestling/all-purpose room.
