Beyond Mercersburg
As I near my final term at Mercersburg, my plans for the years beyond are becomming clearer, at least for the immediate future.
About three weeks ago, fellow Senior Julia Thorne and I travelled to Hudson, Ohio. Driven by Mr. Willis, we were there for admission interviews for a gap year study abroad program run by the English-Speaking Union. We currently have to Mercersburg students, including Julia's older sister, in English boarding schools thanks to this program.
The Seconday Schools Exchange Program allows American boarding school students to study in the Upper-Sixth Form (i.e. as a Senior) at select British boarding (or public) schools at little cost. Mercersburg has a strong history with the program and currently hosts two students from England, one of whom is in my Comparative Politics course, as part of the flipside of participation in the program. I find out in February whether or not I will receive the scholarship and will let you know more about ESU then.
