The Adviser System
Each student is assigned a faculty adviser to whom they can turn for help with personal and academic issues. Each faculty adviser has a group of six to eight advisees who live in his or her affiliated dormitory; advisers get to know the students well. This system ensures that each student has at least one adult who is watching out primarily for him or her.
The adviser may not be the confidante of each advisee but will always be watching over the student and making sure that each advisee is connected to various aspects of the school—the people and the program. The adviser always encourages, advocates for, and supports his or her advisees. Advisers are also available to talk with parents at any time—whether by e-mail, over the phone, or in person.
Adviser/advisee groups meet each Thursday after lunch to discuss individual and school issues. This time is also used for the advisee group to plan extracurricular and community-service activities.
