QUESTIONS
Who were your favorite teachers?
Mr. Kearney was my adviser for two years before I had him for class. Now I’ve had him for AP American Lit, Comp I, and British literature. Being in his class made me want to learn. I read 25 or 30 books and plays in his classes.

I also really liked my comparative politics class. The first time I got an “A” on a test in that class was so satisfying. I didn’t know much about our government before. Now, I’m signed up for a comparative politics class my first semester of college.

What’s something you’ve done at Mercersburg that you never thought you’d try?
I’d never taken a dance class before, and I just decided that my last term that I wanted to dance. I was really afraid I wouldn’t fit in with the dancers. I tried modern and ballet and was in the Spring Dance Concert. Ms. Dalton Gray is an inspiration to all of the dancers. Her personality is contagious. She makes you want to learn and want to dance.

What’s next?
I’m going to American University in Washington, D.C. I’m planning on being a psychology major, but I might study speech pathology or early childhood education. I’m thinking I might minor in theatre.

What are your favorite places on campus?
Thw stage in the Burgin because it is so overwhelming beautiful that I can stand up there and feel like I can conquer anything. I also like the Edwards Room because for some reason I just find it the most peaceful place on campus. It has lots of history for the school. The Chapel is another favorite because it is so gorgeous and I love being able to go there and clear my mind and get in touch with my spiritual self.

What were the last five songs to play on your iPod?
Actually they were all Backstreet Boys songs. Yes I am a nerd who still finds comfort in her favorite boyband.

If you could offer one piece of advice to an incoming student, what would it be?
I would tell them to take advantage of every opportunity that Mercersburg has to offer and to always stay positive. Try new things, but make sure you find something that you truly love. Ask for help, because there are so many people who want to help you. Smile, it will be contagious.
