Mercersburg

Our faculty teach what they love and love what they do. They travel the world as they further develop their language skills and cultural understanding. They return in the summer to the classroom, working toward a greater depth of understanding as they complete a second or third or fourth degree. They refine curriculum continually, believing that a great course this year might lead to further innovation next year.

Mercersburg faculty members act as advisers and teachers; years later, alumni often cite those relationships as central to what they learned here. “When I meet with alumni from around the world, the conversation inevitably includes robust remembrances of this or that teacher, heartfelt gratitude for a person who once, way back, or just in recent years, made a difference, stamped an impression,” says Doug Hale, head of school. “As I walk across the campus or peek into classrooms or look around the dining hall, I’m always struck by the deep bonds between students and teachers, dynamic connections that will last, in most cases, for a lifetime.”
