Outdoor Education
The Masinter Outdoor Education Center, a renovated 10,000-square-foot timber-frame barn, houses Mercersburg’s Outdoor Education (MOE) program. That’s enough space to hold the program’s
  • 30 kayaks
  • 8 canoes
  • full collection of paddling gear including PFDs, paddles, jackets, and spray skirts
  • 25 bikes
  • full collection of backpacking equipment including individual clothing, tents, packs, and stoves
  • full collection of climbing gear including harnesses, helmets, climbing shoes, hardware, and anchors
  • more than 100,000 feet of rope
…and still have room for a bike shop, repair shop, and an 1100-square-foot rock-climbing wall.

MOE is dedicated to safely introducing students to activities that stretch their potential. With MOE’s facilities, and a little help from our sponsors, we’re able to provide the high-caliber gear that a budding outdoor enthusiast needs, whether it’s a harness, climbing shoes, PFD, paddle, pack, tent, or sleeping bag. That means we’re able to outfit a group of students for a day of rock climbing, a two-week mountaineering expedition, multiple-day paddling trips, or any other adventure.

Are you already outfitted for your sport of choice? MOE can store your kayak, canoe, or other gear until you’re ready to put it to use. With MOE’s facilities and equipment, all students need is their sense of adventure and a water bottle.
