Convocation Opens Academy's 118th Year

Mercersburg Academy’s 118th academic year officially began September 7 with the school’s 2010–2011 opening convocation in the Irvine Memorial Chapel. Dr. Julia Stojak Maurer ’90, Mercersburg’s academic dean, was the featured speaker; Head of School Douglas Hale and Student Council President Liza Rizzo ’11 also offered remarks.

Suerken Remembered at Memorial Celebration

The greater Mercersburg community gathered to celebrate the life of emeritus faculty member Paul Suerken August 21 on campus. Suerken, an emeritus faculty member who was a fixture in the music department and Academy community for 31 years, passed away March 21 in Erie, Pennsylvania. He was 71.
