Rebecca Lowe ’99 Lands Starring Role on NBC Sports

When NBC Sports kicks off its coverage of the English Premier League this August, Mercersburg alumna Rebecca Lowe ’99 will be front and center. The England-born Lowe, a veteran sportscaster (or “presenter,” as they say across the pond) who has worked for ESPN UK, Setanta Sports, and the BBC, has been chosen to serve as studio host for NBC’s brand-new coverage of one of the world’s most popular sports leagues.
NBC’s contract with the EPL begins in August; Lowe will work out of the network’s new International Broadcast Center in Stamford, Connecticut, and will live stateside for the first time since attending Mercersburg as an English-Speaking Union Scholar in 1999. NBC and NBC Sports Network are slated to carry five or six EPL games each week beginning in August.

After almost nine years on British television, Lowe essentially made her American television debut in 2011 when she anchored ESPN’s coverage of the 2011 Women’s World Cup, and served as a host for ESPN’s coverage of Euro 2012. She has co-hosted ESPN UK’s Premier League coverage since 2009.
