3:00 p.m. V Women's Swimming vs. Fall Invitational
Although no team scores were kept, the hosts clearly showed their superiority at the Mercersburg Fall Invitational, as the Storm swam to wins in 26 of 30 events in the USS meet. Teams from Frederick (MD), Catonsville (MD), and Winchester (VA) joined coach Pete Williams' squads, but swam in the wake of the Storm for much of the afternoon.
Although still very early in the year, triple winner Kiersten Bell seemed to be in mid-season form, cruising to victories in the 200 backstroke (2:18.57), 1650 freestyle (18:13.06), and the 200 breastroke (2:40.52). She was joined by double winners Michelle Stefandl (200 free-2:00.09, 100 free 56.31), Lauren Kecshes (400 IM-5:11.48, 200 butterfly-2:28.91) in pacing the Storm. Tatiana Duchak (100 breastroke-1:13.90)
Joy Mullins (100 butterfly-1:05.98), and Nikki Hyrkas (500 free-5:23.90) each claimed individual event wins.
The men also fared well, paced by triple winner Dan Quinn and double winners Nick Thomson and Mike Weinstein. Thomson just missed All-American qualifying standards in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle events, his specialties.
