The Importance of Confidence and Student Success

As I said in my last blog, this spring term finds students feeling overall and generally more confident than they felt in the fall and winter, mostly owing to the fact that they have two terms successfully behind them or two athletic seasons successfully behind them. They stand on the precipice of the next academic year really, and they feel it as summer simmers slightly beyond the horizon.

Spring Break

While four inches of snow fell yesterday, leaving campus looking wintery as could be, we are officially on spring break, and on our return, in a week and a half, spring term begins. The break is as a bridge between seasons. We close out the winter season on one side and begin spring on the other.

For some, like the lacrosse team, the season starts early with a trip to Florida for some training. For others, like Mercersburg Outdoor Education, the Endeavor group--they extend winter by taking a trip to New Hampshire to do some ice climbing and camping in the elements. Some extend winter by travelling north; others invite spring by travelling south.

Of course, numerous groups take advantage of the break to travel abroad. There are trips to Italy, England, China, Costa Rica, etc. What better advantage could one take than to travel with fellow students and chaperoning faculty to dynamic foreign vistas? It is time to attain a more cosmopolitan view of the world.
