Mercersburg's boys' swim team captured first place in the 2010 Eastern Intercollegiate Swimming Championships, the biggest prep school aquatic event in the nation and one of the most competitive high school swimming and diving meets in the country. The team title is the Storm's first Easterns championship since 2002, and the fifth in head coach Pete Williams' tenure at the school.

Bobby Burg reached the championship finals and Cody Barrick and Ethan Keiser joined him on the medal podium with placewinning performances of their own, as Mercersburg finished a strong postseason by placing 15th at the 115-team National Prep Wrestling Tournament.

The 35th Annual Bo Burbank Squash Tournament was held Saturday, February 27, in the Davenport Squash Center on the Mercersburg campus. Burbank, a longtime former faculty member and squash coach, was on hand; a reception in Burbank’s honor followed in the Burgin Center for the Arts.

On February 20, the Storm’s winter track teams competed in the Mid-Atlantic Prep League Indoor Track & Field Championships at Lawrenceville School in New Jersey. Several Storm athletes won their events while most previous MAPL records set by Mercersburg alums remained intact.

Five more Mercersburg student-athletes have linked their academic and athletic futures to five of the nation’s top schools. Those accepting offers to play collegiate athletics next fall are Tatiana Duchak ’10 (Carnegie Mellon, swimming), Sarah Duda ’10 (Swarthmore, softball), Chris Hoke ’10 (Lehigh, swimming), Nick Jackson ’10 (Dartmouth, basketball) and Nebiyu Osman ’10 (Penn, cross country/track).
