At the high school level, the driving principle behind playing a sport should be having the positive experience of being part of a team.  While the desire and drive to win games is important and essential, so is the learning that takes place from being part of something greater than the individual athlete.  These student athletes learn how to win and lose, and do both graciously, as well as how to conduct themselves on the field during games and practices.  The upperclassmen learn valuable lessons in leadership as the younger members of the team look to them for guidance.  Beautiful playing fields and a knowledgeable coaching staff make playing field hockey at Mercersburg a fulfilling experience for all who participate.
