With 65,500 square feet of space devoted to the making of
art,
the Burgin Center for the Arts offers a wealth of resources and
facilities for student artists of all kinds.

The
center’s two-story atrium welcomes visitors with a feeling of
spaciousness. The atrium’s floor-to-ceiling glass wall lets in plenty
of natural light—and blurs the distinction between indoor and outdoor
spaces.

The
600-seat main-stage theatre hosts large-scale productions such as the
Academy’s annual musical, and boasts a full fly tower, makeup and
dressing rooms, a green room, sophisticated lighting and sound
capabilities, complete scene shop, orchestra pit with hydraulic lift,
prop and costume shops, and more.

The 120-seat studio space is a theatre in the round that hosts more
intimate productions, including the annual festival of student-directed
one-act plays. Offering flexibility in seating and stage
configurations, this space serves as an experimental theatre.

Studios
for drawing, painting, ceramics, and sculpture provide a spacious,
light-filled environment for budding visual artists. Among its features
are a kiln room, a digital-arts studio, and a
publications room.

Two
dance studios are equipped with floor-to-ceiling mirrors, ballet
barres, natural lighting, and costume rooms. The high-tech floors of
the studios are specifically designed for dance shoes.

Facilities
for music groups include the chorale room, the band room/recital hall,
practice rooms, instrument storage, percussion storage, and music
storage rooms.
