Mercersburg

Mr. Adams comes to Mercersburg from The Gunnery in Washington, Connecticut, where he had been director of admission since 2000 and was associate director of admission starting in 1996. Prior to The Gunnery, he was both a teacher and director of admission at The Phelps School in Malvern, Pennsylvania, preceded by a teaching position for four years at Northwood School in Lake Placid, New York.

He succeeds Christopher Tompkins, who after eight years at Mercersburg accepted the position of headmaster at Perkiomen School in Pennsburg, Pennsylvania.

He received his preparatory education at Avon Old Farms School in Avon, Connecticut, and a bachelor’s degree from Roanoke College.

After two years of working as an assistant director of alumni and parent programs in the Alumni & Development office, Jenn (a 1999 Mercersburg graduate) moved to the Admission office.   In addition to working in the admission office, Jenn resides in Fowle Hall, serves as a class agent, a reunion chair, is an adviser, and assists with coaching junior varsity girl's lacrosse. 

Jenn's, father, four brothers, eight uncles, two cousins, grandfather, and great-great grandfather have also attended the School.

Lena serves as a point of contact for prospective students from their initial inquiry, to their decision to attend Mercersburg.  She is intricately involved with the application process, student mailings, and coordination of fair and travel schedules with Admission Officers.  With several years’ experience in the Alumni and Development office prior to joining Admission, Lena has come to understand and appreciate the journey of a Mercersburg student which has added a unique perspective to her role.

Amy was a 15-time All-American and an Academic All-American student athlete in swimming while attending Denison. Her college honors include Mortar Board, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Sigma Delta Pi. Following a one-year internship, Amy accepted a faculty position at Mercersburg, joining both the foreign language and physical education departments. Since 1999, Amy has worked in the Office of Admission and Financial Aid as associate director. She lives in Fowle Hall with her husband John.

For many, Susan is the first point of contact with Mercersburg Academy. Whether they are making their first phone call or they have just entered the door after a long journey, Susan welcomes all who want to learn about Mercersburg.  Susan also enters initial inquiries into the database and schedules all admission appointments ensuring a smooth and informative visit for all. As a faculty wife and the mother of three Mercersburg alums, Susan is knowledgeable about all things Mercersburg from the daily lives of students to sporting events to campus lore from the past 20 years.

In addition to her other duties, CeCe is very involved with the international component of the Admission Office. For more than 40 years, she has worked with incoming and returning international students and enjoys getting to know students and parents from all over the world. As the SEVIS P.D.S.O. (Primary Designated School Official) for Mercersburg, CeCe is responsible for issuing the I-20 Forms and assisting incoming international students with obtaining their F-1 student visas and maintaining F-1 status from the time they arrive on campus until they graduate. CeCe also assists admission officers with their international travel arrangements and schedules appointments with consultants and prospective families when required.

Nick grew up in Concord, New Hampshire and graduated from Avon Old Farms in 2002.  Nick matriculated to Hobart and William Smith College, where he earned his BA in Media and Society and Studio Art in 2006. At Hobart, Nick played varsity lacrosse. Nick comes to the Mercersburg admission office from his alma mater, Avon, where he worked for 3 years as an Assistant Director of Admissions.  Nick looks forward to being a coach in the men's lacrosse program at Mercersburg.  Nick lives in Tippetts Hall with his wife, Adrienne, and serves as a dorm faculty member and adviser.

Anna joined the Office of Admission in 2010 as an Assistant Director. She grew up in Bethesda, Maryland and graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School in 2005. Anna matriculated to Dickinson College where she earned a BA in American Studies and a minor in Sociology in 2009. Anna comes to the Mercersburg Admission office from Xenophon Strategies, a public relations firm in Washington, DC. Anna is the Assistant Director of the Blue Key Tour Guide Program and also serves as a dorm faculty member and advisor. Anna lives in Swank Hall with her husband, Tim, who works in the Office of Summer and Extended Programs.
