Course selection is an exciting time of the year because students get to plan (or revise their plan) for how to get to graduation day.

Students select their courses with the help of several faculty members:

a. Current teacher: a student’s teacher recommends classes for the following year based on how the student performed in their course.

b. Department head: The head of each academic department reviews the courses that teachers recommended and helps students decide which course to take if they cannot decide.

c. Registration team members: The faculty members of the registration team (department heads, college counselors, academic dean, registrar) have one-on-one course selection meetings with students. In these meetings, students communicate their academic goals to faculty members who are the most knowledgeable about the curriculum. These faculty members help the students to plan their courses based on their goals and interests.

d. Adviser: Each student’s adviser also helps in the course selection process. The adviser ensures that the advisee has created an academic program that allows time for other important aspects of school life to be pursued.
