ABC-CLIO Social Studies Databases

ABC-CLIO's Social Studies databases combine authoritative research sources and inquiry-based teaching and study tools with a user-friendly interface—all aligned to social studies standards and curriculum. Greenwood Daily Life Online
The Greenwood DLO database provides time period overviews, maps, illustrations, primary documents, and specific information concerning various time periods throughout history. The user can browse by time period,  world region or subject or search the entire database.

Encyclopedia Britannica 
 Encyclopedia Britannica combines all of the information found in the print version of this encyclopedia with an added search features and online versions of Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Collegiate Thesaurus. Britannica's default searches all of the available holdings including the classic encyclopedia, Student Encyclopedia, Elementary Encyclopedia, Concise Encyclopedia, Internet Guide, and video collection. You can narrow down your options by checking the corresponding boxes. Encylopedia Britannica Online also offers the option to search the atlas, to browse the index, or browse by subject, article, timeline, or year.

Grove Dictionary of Art
The Grove Dictionary of Art contains 45,000 articles on every aspect of the visual arts—painting, sculpture, graphic arts, architecture, decorative arts and photography—from prehistory to the present day. Articles cover artist, patron, and writer (critics and theorists) biographies, styles, groups, movements, country surveys, art forms, and content iconography.

Thousands of images of paintings, sculptures, graphic arts, architecture, photography and the decorative arts are accessible. Images are both included in articles and available through outside links to various international museums and galleries. All are easy to search and can be limited by artist, image, time period, location, and more.  Advanced Search allows searching by keywords, biographic, bibliographic, and contributor searches. Grove also offers browsing of an alphabetical list of topics and exploration of topical indicies.
